Commitment to Nicholas Wymbyssh, clerk, by mainprise of Preston of the county of York, clerk, and John Wymbyssh the county of Nottingham, of the keeping (1) of a moiety of manor of Marflete, co. York, which (que) came to the king's by the death of Hugh Thorp, esquire, who held of Thomas brother and heir of John late lord de Roos, a minor in the ward, by knight service on the day of his death, and by of the minority of John de Thorp, son and heir of the Hugh, and (2) of all other lands which likewise came to the hands and are still in the king's hand, or ought to have taken into the king's hands, by the death of the said Hugh by reason of the minority of the said John de Thorp; to the same from the time of the death of Hugh until the full of the said John de Thorp, together with his marriage, and from heir to heir until one of them shall have attained full age the marriage shall have been duly effected (if the said Thomas then be within age), rendering yearly for the keeping extent thereof, or as much as may be agreed upon between and the treasurer by Martinmas next, and for the marriage much as may likewise be agreed upon, finding fit maintenance the heir, maintaining the houses and buildings without waste destruction, and supporting all other charges pertaining to said moiety and lands, the repairing of the wall of the Humber, Humbrebank (if by a sudden mishap any shall be only excepted.
