Commission to Thomas de Furnyvall and John Pelham, chivaler, pursuant to the grant made to the king in the present Parliament of (1) two fifteenths and two tenths to be levied of lay persons in the customary manner, one fifteenth and one tenth at Christmas next, a half of a fifteenth and a half of a tenth at Midsummer following, and the remaining halves at Martinmas then following, (2) a subsidy on wools, hides and woolfells for two years from Michaelmas next, to wit, on each sack of wool 43s. 4d. from denizens and 53s. 4d. from aliens, on every 240 woolfells the like amounts, and on each last of hides 100s. from denizens and 106s. 8s. from aliens, and (3), from Michaelmas next for two years, 3s. on each tun of wine for import or export (the king's prise excepted) and 12d. in the pound on all merchandise for import or export (except wools, hides and woolfells, and wine, and every kind of corn, flour and fresh fish, and animals, entering the realm, and ale for export for the victualling of Calais by the people of Baudesey, Faltenham and Alderton upon Gosseford, and elsewhere), on condition that the said fifteenths and tenths and subsidies be expended in the defence of the realm according . 295 the form and intention of the grant and to no other uses, to the said fifteenths and tenths and subsidies at the terms to expend them according to the form and intention the said grant and condition, and to answer faithfully therefor.
