Whereas it was ascertained by an inquisition taken, by order of Richard II, by Richard Skipp, late escheator in the county of Wt. 10471. F. 3. that Margaret late the wife of Thomas Grauntson, knight, on the day of her death in dower of the endowment of the Thomas sometime her husband who died without heir of his 141. 18s. 14d. of rent issuing from the manor of Derteforde, Kent, of the inheritance of (1) William de Monte Acuto, late of Salisbury, son of Katherine one of the sisters of Otes the father of the said Thomas, (2) Roger Northwod, of John the son of Roger the son of Agnes second sister of the Otes, (3) Alice Wake, one of the daughters of Mabel third of the said Otes, (4) Roger Beauchamp, son of Roger son Roger, the son of Sibyl, Mabel s second daughter, (5) John Tudknight, son of Katherine, Mabel s third daughter, and (6) Faucunberge, son of Maud, Mabel s fourth daughter, the William, Roger, Alice, Roger, John and Thomas being the and heirs of the said Thomas Grauntson and of full age ; that the said Thomas Faucunberge made forfeit to the late ; and that Robert (sic) Northwod by his charter granted his of the said rent to Nicholas Heryng, Ellis Reyner, Holt and John Godwot by name of all those rents and which Margaret late the wife of Thomas de Graunsum, held in dower of the inheritance of the said Roger Northwod the towns, hamlets and parishes of Derteforde, Stone, Wilmynand Suttone, co. Kent, or elsewhere in the same county, to the same to them and their heirs and assigns for ever, by of which grant the said Margaret attorned to the grantees, afterwards on the death of the said Nicholas and John Godwot said Ellis and Thomas Holte by their charter granted Roger's which then belonged to them to Nicholas Brembre of knight, John Chaumberleyne, chaplain, and Nicholas to hold the same to them and their heirs for ever, by of which grant the said Margaret attorned to the said and that the said John Tuddenham by his charter his pourparty of the said rent to the said Nicholas Brembre, John Chaumberleyn and Nicholas Leche, to hold the same to them and their heirs and assigns for ever, by virtue of grant the said Margaret attorned to the grantees, and afterthe said Nicholas Brembre by a certain writing released all right and claim in the said pourparties by name of all his right he had in all those rents and services called Graunsum in county of Kent late of John Tuddenham, chivaler, and Nicholas to the said John Chaumberleyn and Nicholas Leche, and the said John Chaumberleyn by his writing made a release of all his right in the said pourparties to Nicholas ; and that the said rent was held of Richard II by service of rendering to him one penny yearly at Christmas for all service ; and whereas the late king accordingly commanded John Reche, late his escheator in the county of Kent, having taken the fealty of the said late earl and having made a partition of the rent, which was taken into the late king's hand by the death of the said Margaret, into three equal parts (in the presence of the said Nicholas Leche, Alice, Roger Beauchamp and Thomas Faucunberge or their . Parr I. 35 to cause the said late earl to have full seisin of his pourand to keep in the late king's hand until further orders the of the said Nicholas Leche, Roger Beauchamp, Alice, Thomas Facunberge ; the king now orders the escheator in county of Kent to cause Roger Beauchamp, whose fealty king has taken, to have full seisin of his pourparty of the said
