Commission to William Parker of London, mercer, and Thomas of London, grosser, by mainprise of John More, Thomas William Burton and Thomas Dyester of London, to in the port of Southampton and in all ports and places along the sea-coast as far as Portesmuth, and there, and the Isle of Wight, and in all places thence as far as Pole, and from Michaelmas last during the king's pleasure, (1) the customs granted to Edward I by foreign and alien merchants return for certain liberties and immunities [Federa, II. 11. 747], the custom and subsidy on wools, hides and woolfells, to wit, each sack of wool 50s. from denizens and 60s. from aliens, on 240 woolfells the like amounts, and on each last of hides from denizens and 61. from aliens, and (3) the custom on of wool and worsted made in England for export to foreign to wit, 14d. from denizens and 21d. from aliens on every of assize, 2s. 4d. from denizens and 3s. 6d. from aliens on cloth of scarlet and other cloth of whole grain, a moiety of custom on every other cloth of half grain, or in which the has been mixed, and also the rate of the same customs on every other cloth according as the same be or within the assize, and 1d. from denizens and 14d. from for one whole cloth of worsted, and 5d. from denizens and from aliens for one single bed of worsted, and 9d. from denizens Vacated because nothing thereof was done, 134d. from aliens for one double bed; and to keep the coket in the said port, answering at the Exchequer for the moneys ; and to appoint fit substitutes to act for them in where they cannot attend in person.
