Commitment to Mary late the wife of John Pecche, knight, on her petition shewing that John Lovel lately by his writing granted to her the manor of Couele Pecche, co. Middlesex, for life, and that she was seised thereof and continued her seisin until Midsummer last, as appears by an inquisition taken by the king's order, and that the said manor, among other lands of the same John Lovel, was then taken into the king's hand and is still in the king's hand by pretext of an inquisition taken by the sheriff of Middlesex and returned before the king, whereby it was found that the said John, (who was convicted as a clerk of receiving Nicholas Lovel, his brother, an outlawed felon, and was for that reason delivered to the prison of the abbot of Westminster, the ordinary), had been seised thereof in his demesne as of fee on the day of his conviction for the receiving ; and praying the king to order that the manor be committed to her for as long as it shall remain in his hand for that cause, so that she answer at the Exchequer for the issues thereof, if they ought to pertain to the king, _ of the said manor of Couele Pecche, as above, together with the issues thereof since it was taken into the king's hand, so that she answer as above and do the real services and other charges due therefrom to the king and others.
