Commitment to John Stopyndon, clerk, and John Gybbes, hy mainprise of Roger Clyderowe, esquire, and John Pirye of Canterbury, gentilman, of the keeping (1) of a messuage, a dove-cot with a garden attached, 66 acres and 1 rood of arable land, and 3 roods of meadow in Preston by Wyngham, co. Kent, and a salt-pit and 3 acres of pasture in Stouermouthe, sometime of William Cukkowe, which have been taken into the king's hands for certain causes, and (2) of 2 messuages, with gardens attached, in Ikham, and a toft in Lytelbourne, which Michael Potter of Ikham, a Fleming, purchased for himself and his heirs without licence from the king ; to hold the same from Michaelmas last for 7 years, if the premises shall remain for so long in the king's hands, rendering the 26s. 8d. at which the premises were extended, and an increment of 20d., yearly at Easter and Michaelmas equally; with clause touching maintenance of houses, enclosures and buildings, and support of charges ; provided always that if any other person shall be willing without fraud to give more by way of increment for the said keeping, then the said John Stopyndon and John Gybbes shall be bound to pay such larger sum, if they will have the keeping.
