Commitment to Richard Hastynges, knight, Bartholomew Brokesby, esquire, John Bowes and Gerard Maynell, by mainprise of William Phelipp of the county of Suffolk, knight, and John Radclif of the county of Norfolk, knight, of the keeping of all the manors and lands, in the counties of Lincoln, Leicester and Southampton and in the city of Lincoln, which Elizabeth late the wife of Henry de Bello Monte, chivaler, held in dower after the death of the said Henry (a tenant in chief of Henry V), of the inheritance of John de Bello Monte, Henry's son and heir, a minor in the king's ward ; to hold the same from the time of the death of the said Elizabeth until the full age of the said heir, rendering yearly for the keeping the extent thereof, or as much as may be agreed upon between them and the treasurer by Midsummer next; with clause touching maintenance of houses, enclosures and buildings, and support of charges; as the said Richard, Bartholomew, John and Gerard, having made no agreement with the treasurer, have surrendered in the Chancery for cancellation the letters patent of 29 November last [p. 203 above], by which the king committed the keeping of the said manors and lands to them from the time of the death of Elizabeth until the full age of the said heir, at a yearly farm of the extent thereof, or as much as might be agreed upon between them and the treasurer by the Purification then next to come. : By bill of the treasurer.
