Commitment to Ralph earl of Westmoreland, by mainprise of John earl marshal and earl of Nottingham and Richard Nevill, chivaler, and by and with the advice and assent of the king's council, of the wardship of Richard son and heir of Richard late earl of Cambridge, and kinsman and heir of Edward late duke of York, together with the marriage of the said heir (which marriage pertains to the king by the death of the said late earl and duke, who held of Henry V in chief on the days of their death, and by reason of the minority of the said heir), and so from heir to heir until one of them shall have attained full age and Ralph shall have duly effected the marriage, rendering 3,000 marks for the said wardship and marriage, to wit, 1,000 marks in hand, 500 marks at Midsummer next, 500 marks at Christmas following, 500 marks at the Midsummer following and 500 marks at the Christmas following, and finding fit maintenance for the heir ; and for this maintenance the king wills that the said Ralph have 200 marks a year from the issues and profits of the lands late of the said late duke (which are in the king's hand by reason of the minority of the said heir) by the hands of the keepers, farmers, bailiffs, reeves, occupiers or other ministers of the same, or by the hands of the treasurer.
