To R. bishop of London. Order to direct the collectors in that diocese wool for the king's use and of the triennial tenth granted by the to cause the tenths to be levied of the abbot of St. John, and to supersede the exaction made on him for his wool, him from any sequestration of his goods or excommunication for that cause, as although he was not present in the last parliaat Westminster, or in the great council at Northampton, nor the writs directed to him presented in due time, whereby he should bound to pay the wool then granted, and he is ready to pay the tenth in the convocation of the clergy on the morrow of St. Jerome and the triennial tenth granted by the clergy, yet the collectors him to pay his wool, as he has informed the king, and the king consideration for his estate, which is so depressed for various causes he, his convent, and the serjeants of the abbey hardly have where to live.
