To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Order to supersede the exaction which they make on Nicholas de la Beche, keeper of the manor of Beaumis, with appurtenances in cos. Wilts, Southampton and Berks, of 207. yearly for that custody, from 1 March, in the 9th year of the reign, provided that he shall answer to the king for the portion cf the 20/. between 6 July, in the 8th year of the reign, and the said 1 March, as on the said 6 July the king committed that custody to him for life, to hold as Hugh le Despenser, earl of Winchester, held it, rendering 20/. yearly; and although afterwards on 1 March following, the king granted that manor to Nicholas for his good service to hold I1. Parr I. 359 aforesaid, yet the treasurer and barons exact the said 20/. of him, he has besought the king to provide a remedy. By K. & C.
