To Ralph de Middelnye, escheator in cos. Somerset, Dorset, Cornwall Devon. Order to pay to Joan daughter of Hugh de Poyntz, tenant chief, the arrears of 102. yearly for the manor of Stoke St. Edward, the time when it was taken into the king's hands, and to pay sum henceforth so long as the manor shall remain in the king's as on it being found by the inquisition post mortem on Hugh, the manor, which is held of Elizabeth de Burgh by the service a twentieth part of a knight's fee, and not of the king, is charged Joan in 10/., at her suit, beseeching the king to cause the 10/. to delivered to her, the manor being in the king's hands by reason the minority of Hugh's heir, the king ordered the escheator to an inquisition upon the premises, by which it is found that Hugh, 1 April, in the 10th year of the reign, granted by his deed to Joan yearly pension of 10/. to be received from his said manor of Stoke and which is parcel of that manor, for her life.
