To William Trussel, escheator this side Trent. Order not to interfurther with a forge of the abbey of Waltham Holy Cross Wormele, restoring the issues thereof to the abbot, as the escheator that he had not taken that forge into the king's hands, but Robert de Holewell, late escheator in cos. Norfolk, Suffolk, Cam- Huntingdon, Essex and Hertford, delivered it to him by indenture, that Reginald, formerly abbot of that place, had acquired the where the forge is constructed, after the publication of the statute mortmain, without the king's licence ; and afterwards, at the suit of abbot, showing the king that abbot Reginald had acquired the plot before the said statute, and beseeching the king to cause the forge be restored to him, the king ordered the escheator to take an inquision the matter, by which it is found that abbot Reginald acquired plot long before the publication of the said statute, and the forge erected thereupon, and the plot is of the lordship of the abbot and worth 6d. yearly.
