To the sheriff of Kent. Order to go in person to the chief messuage the lands which belonged to Reginald de Rokesle, tenant in chief, of and to deliver that and the other lands which belonged to together with the issues received by Isabella de Rokesle, to le Waleys, and if he find any one resisting him in the livery to cause him to be taken and kept in prison until further orders, the posse comitatus for this if necessary, and informing the king the names of the persons so arrested, although the king lately comto Isabella the custody of the lands which belonged to Reginald de Rokesle, and which were in the king's hands by reason of the of Richard, son of William de Rokesle, Reginald's kinsman and to hold until the heir should come of age, rendering 10/. thereof at the exchequer, at which the lands were extended by William escheator this side Trent, yet because the king had previously to Augustine the custody of these lands for rendering the extent thereof yearly at the exchequer, and wishing him to have it, he revoked the commission to Isabella, and granted the custcdy to Augustine to hold until the heir should come of age, rendering the said 107. yearly, and the king ordered the escheator to deliver all the said lands to Augustine, or to show cause why he should not obey the king's order; and the escheator has shown the king that he had gone to the said chief messuage and found there Isabella de Rokesle, Robert Ladde of Eynesford, John de Dorkynge, John le Brewere of Otteford, Robert le Mareschal of Otteford, Robert, parish chaplain of Otteford, John son of Gregory de Rokesle, William Sweyneslond, John atte Water, of Otteford, Robert Monelight, John le Heyward, of Lullyngeston, John Wither, John Launce, Geoffrey le Millere, Henry Brounsweyn, William atte Castel of Lullyngeston, and Simon le Porter, with several other persons unknown, who resisted him by armed force there, so that he could not deliver the messuage and lands to Augustine.
