_ To the treasurer and chamberlains. Whereas the king is indebted to de la Pole in 4,0267. 13s. 4d. which he delivered on loan at orders of the king to the following persons, to wit: to William de keeper of the great wardrobe, 1,000/. upon the expenses of his as appears by a bill under William's seal; to John de Monte knight, and Master John Wawayn, sent in the king's service to beyond the sea, 1,026/. 13s. 4d. both for their expenses and for expedition of divers of the king's affairs there, and to the merchants the society of the Peruzzi of Florence, 2,000/. as may fully appear by under the great and privy seals directed to William de la Pole, and the letters patent of John, and John and the said merchants testifying receipt of that money, and the king is the more anxious to pay the due to William, because he is about to be newly charged with other urgent and expensive affairs; the king therefore ordered taxers and collectors of the tenth and fifteenth, and Robert Cleer, of the temporalities of the bishopric of Norwich, to pav various to William de la Pole [as above] or to his attorney ; the king there. orders the treasurer and chamberlains to view the said orders directed William, and the aforesaid bills and letters patent, and to cause tallies be levied at the king's receipt in discharge of Robert, and the said IIT. Parr I. 15 Ce ee Sd ee and collectors of the sums paid by them to William, and to cause to be delivered to William, and to cause payment or a competent to be made to him for the residue of the said total sum, re from him the bill, the letters patent and the said orders whereby made the said loan to the king, charging William de Northwell, John, and the merchants with the said sums received by them.
