To the sheriff of Essex and Hertford. Order to cause proclamation to be made, upon sight of these presents, in seaports and other places in bailiwick, that no merchants, masters, mariners or others, under pain forfeiture, shali go to parts beyond the sea with their ships, victuals, or other things, although they may have a licence from the by his letters for taking things out of the realm to the said parts, the king has been informed that, notwithstanding the late prothat no one should take victuals or other merchandise out of the to parts beyond the sea, some merchants and others have presumed go to the said parts, and their ships are often taken by foreigners upon sea with their ships of war. The king, however, wishes that those who to take victuals, armour and other things necessary for him and his in Scotland, shall take them to Berwick-upon-Tweed, Stryvelyn, Perth elsewhere, notwithstanding the said proclamation, so that they find security that they will take the said victuals, armour, etc., to not elsewhere, in the ports from which they set out, before the and bailiffs of those ports.
