To the treasurer and barons of the exchequer. Roger de Gildesburgh, king's clerk, has besought him to cause account to be made with him for following matters, and wages to be allowed to him in that account for time when he was in the king's service, as he was appointed to arrest ships in divers parts of the realm, and cause them to be munitioned war with men and other necessary things, to set out upon the sea, against king's enemies; and he received 60s. upon his expenses and 183J. 15s. 10d. the prior of Holy Trinity, Norwich, (collector of the tenth and fifteenth to the king by the laity and the tenth granted by the clergy in the year of the reign, in cos. Norfolk and Suffolk), and of that money Roger 40. to certain mariners of Great Yarmouth and 20/. to certain mariners Bishop's Lynne and 102. to certain mariners of Colchester, of the king's as was enjoined upon him by the king and his council; the king orders the treasurer and barons to audit Roger's account and cause said sums paid by him and his reasonable wages, to wit from 30 July the 9th year of the reign until 18 September following, when he was in said service, to be allowed to him in the sums received by him, provided he shall answer to the king for what is found to be due to the king of sums he received after the said allowance has been made.
