To Adam de Wyleby, escheator in cos. Hereford, Gloucester, Worcester, Stafford, and the march of Wales adjoining. Order not to interfurther with the custody of the abbey of Cirencester, void by the of Richard, the last abbot, or with the manors or other things goods belonging to the abbey, restoring the issues thereof to the prior convent without any diminution, provided that a simple seisin shall be within the gates of the abbey in the name of the king's royal lordship, Edward, the king's great grandfather (ste) on 10 December in the year of his reign, granted to the then abbot and convent of Cirencester, the prior and convent of that place and their successors, in every voidshould have the custody of the abbey and of the temporalities thereof fully as the abbot and convent were wont to have them in past times when see was filled, so that the prior and convent should have full and free of the said temporalities and goods, and should dispose and thereof as they should see fit, saving to the said king and his heirs knights fees which are held of the abbey, and the advowsons when fallin during a voidance, but so that all rents and yearly services of the fees during voidances, shall remain to the prior and convent, saving to the king and his heirs the escheats which should fall in during a voidance, escheats, when the voidances are finished, to wit, after the fealty of who shall be elected and confirmed abbot, has been made to the said or his heirs, shall remain to the abbot, prior and convent without let or of the king, rendering to the king 100/. within three months for voidance of the abbey if it shall endure for three months or less, and it shall endure for more than three months, then the prior and convent pay to the king 100/. for the next completed three months, and 100/. every other three months, and pro rata for every part of three months the voidance ; and the said king granted that the prior and convent have the custody of the abbey, etc., in the said form so that no sheriff, bailiff, or minister of the king, should intermeddle with the custody the abbey, of its manors or other goods during a voidance, except that escheator or other minister of the king for the time being should take simple seisin within the gates of the abbey at the beginning of each voidin the name of the king's lordship, and that done, should immediately without taking or carrying away anything, so that he should not stay more than one day by reason of that seisin, nor substitute any one his place; and the said king also granted that if he or his heirs should an army to be summoned in any time of voidance of the abbey, prior and convent should not be bound for their own demesues and the
