To Jobn le Porter, keeper of the lands of certain rebels in co. Essex. it is found by an inquisition taken by John de Liston and Robert de that William de la Haye demised to Hugh Dandele, the his manor of Grenestede, in the aforesaid county, and the advowof that manor, excepting a soller over the gate and a chamber with a of the same manor, for the term of three years from Michaelmas, in 14th year of the king's reign, on condition that Hugh paid him 12d. a whenever he was attending to his own affairs, and if he stayed with that Hugh should find him suitable food in his house, together with maintenance of two grooms and the allowance for two horses in hay, shoes ferar ), and a bushel of oats uightly for the said horses, and two suitable for William yearly, and candle and drink for his chamber nightly, and William received the premises from Hugh from Michaelmas aforesaid St. James the Apostle following, and that the manor and adyowson held of the honour of Gloucester by the service of a quarter of a fee, and that William made no other estate to Hugh or to any one of the aforesaid manor and advowson, and that the manor and adyowwith the above exceptions, were taken into the king's hands by reason Hugh's rebellion, the king orders the keeper to pay to William the of the said 12d. daily and two robes yearly for the time that he had the custody of the manor. If the issues of the manor are insufto pay the above, he is ordered to deliver the manor to William, be held by him until the king shall otherwise order.
