To the mayor and bailiffs of Bristol. Order at their peril on sight etc. to cause proclamation to be made forbidding any merchant alien or native or any other person under pain of forfeiting the same to take out of the realm without special licence of the king any gold or silver in money, the lump or plate; and order to make search of those passing from time to time in that port, merchants and others, that they take none contrary to this prohibition ; as the king has learned that many merchants and others have so taken great sums contrary to his prohibition, having received the same for merchandise brought to England and sold in Bristol.
