To John Thame escheator in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with 8 marks of rent to be taken of the tenements in the inquisition hereinafter last recited at the four terms of the year usual in Oxford, delivering to the chaplain of a chantry in the church of Allhallows in Oxford called Stodeleyeschaunterye any moneys thereof taken since the forfeiture of Robert Tresilian knight deceased ; as it is found by inquisition, taken before the escheator and John Dautry clerk, that the said Robert [held] thirty messuages, twenty shops, six solars, twelve cellars, 34 acres of land, 10 acres of meadow, 60s. of rent and a fishery in the river Thames, all in the town of Oxford, and the advowson of the said chantry, sixteen messuages, 6 acres of meadow and 100s. of rent in the suburbs of Oxford in Berkshire which by fine levied in the king's court he purchased of Richard Preston and Agnes his wife, paying to them during the life of Agnes 40 marks a year, and to the said chaplain and his successors 8 marks a year, and that by force of a judgment against him rendered in the last parliament the premises are seized as forfeit into the king's hand ; and it is found by another inquisition, taken before the escheator, that on Monday after St. Peter's Chains 45 Edward III John Stodeley gave to Agnes his wife, Walter le Serjaunt and William Stodeley his own brother, their heirs, executors and assigns, the 8 marks of yearly rent aforesaid, namely 20s. of a messuage now called Stodeleysyn wherein the grantor lately dwelt in the parish of Allhallows, 20s. of a messuage called Maugerhalle in the parish of St. Martin Oxford wherein John Beyne now dwells, 20s. of a messuage called Somonouresyn, now Patysyn, 13s. 4d. of a shop, cellar and solar now in the tenure of Nicholas Spycer, 6s. 8d. of a tenement then held by William Brustowe, 6s. 8d. of a tenement sometime held by John Brut, all in the parish of St. Martin, 6s. 8d. of a shop in the parish of Allhallows by the great gate in the spicery formerly held by John le Goldsmyth, now by Robert Latoner, 6s. 8d. of a shop in the parish of St. Martin in the tenure of Joan Gersyngdoun wherein Thomas Smert dwells, 20d. of a tenement in the parish of St. Peter in the Bailey in the tenure of John le Colles, 40d. of a tenement in the parish of St. Aldate by a messuage of the abbot of Abyndoun on the west, and 20d. of a tenement there by a messuage of the said abbot on the west and a tenement of John de la Wyke on the east, upon condition that they should appropriate those 8 marks to a chantry in the said church in honour of the Trinity, finding that by virtue thereof the said Walter, Richard de Preston and Agnes gave that rent by charter to Richard de Rysyngdoun chaplain and his successors celebrating in the said chantry.
