To the sheriff of Worcester. Writ of swpersedeas, by mainprise of Nicholas Bruyn of Worcestershire, Roger Lowe of Staffordshire, John de Fourhales of Salop and Thomas Tildebury of London, in favour of Henry Marchall of Duddeley, Isabel his wife and Nicholas Marchall chaplain, put in exigents because they came not before the justices to content the king of their ransom for disseising Thomas Hampton of Coventre and Agnes his wife of a messuage, 50 acres of land and 10 acres of meadow in Duddeley, for which they were convicted before Robert Bealknap and Robert Charleton justices of assize at Worcester, and damages were adjudged to the plaintiffs; as now their petition shews that before the justices of the Bench they have arraigned a jury of 24 knights to convict the jurors of the assize, and are ready to prosecute the same ; and the said Nicholas Bruyn and the others have mainperned in chancery under a pain of 106 marks, namely 401. to the king's use and 46 marks to the use of the plaintiffs, that the defendants shall prosecute the same, and that when the jury is determined, if it shall pass against them, they shall content the king of their ransom and the plaintiffs of their damages.
