Memorandum of acknowledgment, 22 April. Writing of John de Denton of Wakefeld co. York, son and heir of John de Denton sometime burgess of Newcastle upon Tyne, being a quitclaim with warranty to Robert de Merley chaplain of Newcastle aforesaid, his heirs and assigns, of all the tenement in the said town of Newcastle sometime of Thomas Daulyn grandfather of the grantor and burgess of Newcastle, or any rent issuing therefrom, which tenement lies by the Calecrosse in breadth between a tenement of Wodemane burgess of Newcastle and a tenement sometime de Acton burgess of Newcastle extending in length from before to the castle moat behind ; also of all lands, rents in the town of Newcastle sometime of Adam de or William Haras burgesses thereof. Witnesses: John then mayor of Newcastle, John de Houden, Thomas de John de Howell, Thomas de Treble, Robert Oliver, William Roland A1mestraungge, Thomas de Skelton, Thomas Dated Newcastle aforesaid, Tuesday before St. George 51 IIT. of acknowledgment, 23 April. of William de Thorp knight, by licence of the king giving to Sir Edmund de la Pole knight, Maud his wife and their son and to the heirs and assigns of Sir Edmund, a moiety manor of Sauston co, Cantebrigge and all other his lands, rents etc. in the town of Sauston and the towns of Badeburgham and the reversion of the other moiety of the said after the death of Henry Wardedieu tenant thereof for life, services of free tenants and neifs, lands, meadows, feedings, marriages, reliefs, escheats etc. thereto belonging, except of land in Badburghamhay by land of Robert Curteys the elder abutting upon land of John de Wetherisfeld the other upon of John Rolf, the said acre being parcel of the said which is held in chief. Witnesses: George Muschet knight, de Sauston, Ralph de Huntyngdon, Thomas de Wetherisfeld, Dated Sauston, Sunday after St. Lucy 50 Edward ITI. of William de Thorp knight, being a quitclaim with warranty de la Pole knight, Maud his wife and Walter their son the heirs and assigns of the said Edmund, as well of the manor co. Cantebrigge as of all other lands, rents, reversions of free men and neifs in the town of Sauston and the of Badburgham and Pampesworth, except one acre of land said manor, being parcel thereof, and lying in Badburgham land of Robert Curteys the elder one head abutting upon John Wetheresfeld the other upon land of John Rolf, which etc. (with the exception aforesaid) the said Edmund, Maud have in demesne and in reversion by gift of the said William.
