To William de Nessefeld escheator in Yorkshire. Order to deliver to John son of Adam Freman of Wartre the moiety of one toft and of one bovate of land in Wartre, which Adam his father held by knight service of the heir of William de Roos of Hamelak tenant in chief, a minor in the king's wardship, and which was taken into the king's hand by Adam's death; as itis found by inquisition, taken by the escheator, that Adam at his death held no lands in that county in chief, but held the premises as aforesaid in his demesne as of fee, that John is his son and heir, and is of the age of 24 years and upwards, and that the escheators for the time being have charged themselves in their accounts with the issues thereof from the date of Adam's death, namely 12 August in the 23rd year of the reign ; and Thomas brother and heir of William de Roos has at another time proved his age, and the king has taken his homage, and rendered to him the lands which his said brother held in chief.
