To the sheriff of York. Whereas the king lately by letters appointed John archbishop of York, Ralph de Nevill Thomas de Musgrave to summon before them at a day place to be by them fixed all the collectors of the of the tenth and fifteenth above mentioned in singular wapentakes, liberties and boroughs of every trithing of county, the city of York excepted, and to apportion and cause be brought to the exchequer set sums due therefrom to the . 73 of that tenth and fifteenth for the expenses by him chevised and namely of the Estrithing 300/., of the Northtrithing 150/., and Westrithing 180/.; and although they apportioned those sums, commanded the collectors to have them at the receipt of the at a set day now past, to be there delivered to the treasurer chamberlains for the king's use, the collectors have not yet paid thereof: order, under pain of 300/., to go in person to the collectors and to command them strictly on the king's behalf, of them under pain of 300/., to have those sums at the receipt exchequer as aforesaid three weeks after Michaelmas, and to to answer for their contempt made in that behalf, and for king's damage and loss by reason of non-payment; informing treasurer and chamberlains of his action thereupon. By K. Henry duke of Lancaster or his representative in that duchy. the king lately ordered him to cause 100/. of the moiety of tenth and fifteenth above mentioned, due to the king for moneys chevised and paid, to be levied in that duchy and brought to exchequer, and although the duke caused the same to be levied ago (as the king has heard), and commanded the collectors on of the king to have that sum at the receipt of the exchequer set day now past, to be there delivered to the treasurer and chamfor the king's use, the collectors have as yet paid none of it : order to command them on behalf of the king, under pain of 3001., the 100/. at the receipt of the exchequer as aforesaid three after Michaelmas, and to be there ete. (as above).
