To John de Coupland, sheriff of Northumberland, and to Thomas de Etton appointed to seize into the king's hand all the manors, lands, goods and chattels of Gilbert de Mitford and the other mainpernors of Walter de Chiriton and his fellows, fermors of the customs throughout England, to sell those goods and chattels, to levy 500/. thereof and pay-it to the king on a certain future day, in part payment of 13,643U. 14s. 7d. due of those customs to the king by account made at the exchequer by John Malewayn and his fellows, late receivers of the said customs. Order to supersede until . 249 the sale of those goods in the hands of John de Houeden, and wife, late the wife of the said Gilbert, and the levying of 241. as although John de Coupland and Thomas seized into the king's goods which came into the hands of John de Houeden and of Gilbert's will, and are appraised at 24/. by inquisition John de Coupland and Thomas, and letters obligatory for those been made by John de Houeden to them for the king's use, but found before the king in chancery Richard de Stanhope and Robert of Northumberland, who have mainperned that John shall king for the 241. at the exchequer on the quinzaine of Easter they ought to pertain to the king.
