To the mayor and sheriffs of London. Order to cause proclamation to be made that no purveyors of the king or of others or those newly appointed to purvey corn and divers other victuals for his use shall presume to take any corn or other victuals brought to that city to be sold from those bringing it, upon pain of forfeiture, and if they find any doing the contrary after the proclamation they shall take them and keep them safely until the king notifies to them what has been ordained by him and the council thereupon, as the king is informed that by fear thereof the vendors of such victuals have for no small time withdrawn from coming to the city with any victuals, and withdraw more and more, so that victuals can hardly be found there, and the king has determined that a parliament must shortly be held at his palace of Westminster near that city, and that great peril may come to him and his affairs by reason of such taking.
