John, prior of Bermundeseye, acknowledges that he owes to Besevill of London 24 marks; to be levied, in default of payment, lands and chattels and ecclesiastical goods in co. Surrey. on payment. de la Ryvere, knight, lord of Tormerton, acknowledges that he to Gilbert le Despenser, knight, 400/.; to be levied, in default of of his lands and chattels in co. Gloucester. same John acknowledges that he owes to the said Gilbert 38001. ; levied as aforesaid. same John acknowledges that he owes to the said Gilbert 200/.; to as aforesaid. of indenture testifymg that whereas Sir John de la Ryvere, of Tormerton, is bound by law merchant to Gilbert le Despenser in and by the three preceding recognisances, in 400/., 38001. and 2001., grants that if John pay him in the church of St. Martin le Grand, in the quinzaine of Michaelmas next, 550 marks, then the said merchant and the recognisances shall be null, but otherwise they shall in force. French. that both John and Gilbert came into chancery at the of St. Mary de la Stronde without the bar of the New Temple, on 12 July, and acknowledged the preceding indenture.
