Parr 1. 73 of indenture made at Slagham on Saturday, 9 May, 23 III, between Sir Michael de Ponyngges, knight, and Sir William knight, testifying that whereas William is bound to Michael by a recognisance made in chancery in the said year, to be at Michaelmas next, Michael grants that if William, after he has reasonably notified, make suit by writ of formedon or in other of the manor of Perchyng, so that the manor is recovered if it be by the said suit, by which recovery all the fines levied on the manor the death of Sir Robert Botevilleyn, William's father, may be annulled cost, and so soon as William has recovered the manor he shall it to Michael by fine with warranty clause, and if William render possible help to Michael against Sir Giles de Arderne or any other who to make debate in that manor, so that all such things are done at cost, then the recognisance shall be null, but if William fail in of the points aforesaid, then it shall remain in force.
