Scot and his fellows, justices appointed to hold pleas before Whereas at the suit of Thomas Flemyng, Ed mund] de and William de Burton showing the king that they were of the death of John de Denton at Newcastle upon Tyne before Moubray and Peter de Rychemond and their fellows, justices to enquire concerning that death and to hear and determine the do certain other things contained in the commission to them, at the suit of Elizabeth late the wife of John, they were in the Marshalsea, and beseeching the king to order restitution to them of their lands which were taken into the king's hand they did not come before the said justices to answer upon that the king, considering that they could not appear elsewhere were staying in the Marshalsea prison, ordered John and Peter him why they took the said lands, which certificate the king William Scot and his fellows under the half seal, ordering them it, and after they have heard the reasons of Thomas, Edmund to do what is in accordance with the law and custom of upon the release of those lands and the issues thereof, notwiththe said commission.
