Order not to intermeddle with the messuages, mills and land taken into the king's hand by of the death of Richard de Mertone, restoring the issues thereof as, the king has learned by inquisition taken by the escheator that Richard at his death held a messuage, two mills and a carucate of land in Welcombe in that county, of John Daroundel, in socage, as of the right of Joan his wife and that Richard and Joan jointly held a messuage, two mills and a carucate of land in Suttecombe with the advowson of St. Andrew's church, Suttecombe, for themselves and Richard's heirs, of Eleanor de Hastyng, and that Richard held a messuage and a carucate of land in Saunton in the name of a custody by reason of the minority of John Stokhay, kinsman and heir of Robert Stokhay, knight, who held of Richard by knight's service, which custody Richard has bequeathed to Joan in his will as a chattel. 7.
