To the collectors of the customs of wool, hides and wool-fells in the ; port of London. Order to permit James de Siralbys, John de Undissan, Mayner de Bold, Gilminus Blancher and Francis Lapy, merchants of Florence, or Gerard de Corp of London, in their name, to lade 120 sacks of wool, and take them to Flanders, Brabant or Catalonia, paying 60s. a sack on 20 sacks thereof and mark a sack on all the sacks, and allowing to them 60s. a sack on the remaining 100 sacks in recompence for 3001. which they paid to Berengar de Vivariis for his wages for which the king was bound to him by divers bills of the constable of Bordeaux surrendered at the exchequer, as appears by a certificate of the treasurer and chamberlains sent into chancery, by the hands of Gerard, for having the passage of 100 sacks of that wool, as Berengar has acknowledged in chancery, as at the request of certain lieges the king gave licence to those merchants that after Michaelmas last they should buy up to 7874 sacks of wool in the realm, lade them in what ports they wished and take them to Catalonia or Majorca ; and the king ordered the collectors of customs in the port of Southampton to permit the merchants to lade 120 sacks thereof after Michaelmas, when the king's wool has been taken to Flanders, and take them to Catalonia or Majorca, after paying 4 mark a7sack for the custom, and the merchants surrendered the writ to chancery, enclosed in the wax, beseeching the king to permit them to lade the said 120 sacks in the port of London and take them thence to Flanders, Brabant or Catalonia.
