Scot and his fellows, justices appointed to hold pleas before John Athelardson of Cirice, master of a ship called la Skenkewyn, in Seland, has besought the king to provide a remedy for the of that ship, as Thomas de Melcheburn and Geoffrey Drieu, appointed scrutiny of wool, fells and merchandise not coketted or customed out of the realm, arrested the ship with all the goods therein they found 16 stones of wool in 6 barrels not coketted therein, and John has asserted that the wool was placed therein without his and assent and has besought that the ship may be de-arrested, and Geoffrey detain it under arrest and have refused to deliver it the king therefore orders the justices to take an inquisition upon by the oath of lawful men of co. Norfolk, and if they find that was placed in the ship with the knowledge and assent of the they shall cause what is just to be done, but if not, they shall cause ship with all the goods found therein, except the wool and also the and other men thereof, arrested for that cause to be de-arrested delay, and they shall cause the said wool to be retained for the use by Thomas and Geoffrey.
