Order to deliver to the duke of Brabant or to John le Clerk and John Weybon, his attorneys, all the money retained for the custom for the use of certain merchants of Almain to whom the king granted the custom of wool, and all the money of the increment of wool, in part satisfaction of the wool assigned to the duke and of the money due to him by letters of acquittance, notwithstanding any orders or assignments to the contrary, certifying the king in chancery without delay of the number of sacks of the increment, as in part satisfaction of certain debts in which the king was bound to the duke of Brabant, he granted to the duke 3,300 sacks of the wool granted in the last parliament, to wit, 326 sacks of co. Nottingham, 420 sacks of co. Warwick, 959 sacks of co. Suffolk, 700 sacks of co. Kent and 895 sacks of co. Norfolk, to be received by the hands of the receivers of wool in those counties, so that if the wool should be sold to the king's merchants or others by the king the money should be delivered to the duke, and afterwards at the duke's suit, showing that he could not obtain the said wool on account of certain assignments and sales thereof and of other impediments, and beseeching the king to provide a remedy, the king ordained by deliberation of the council that all the wool of cos. Norfolk and Suffolk assigned to the duke, and 260 sacks of the wool of co. Dorset in part satisfaction of the said 700 sacks of co. Kent, should be delivered to the duke or to John le Clerk and John Weybon, his attorneys, with all speed, and should be taken tosparts beyond the sea, and that the said wool of cos. Nottingham and Warwick assigned to the duke and afterwards sold to Walter de Chiriton and Hardelephus de Barton by advice of the council, and the said wool of cos. Norfolk, Suffolk and Dorset, should be sold by the king's merchants and the duke's attorneys, and the money thereof delivered to the duke, except 40s. a sack of the wool of cos. Nottingham and Warwick assigned to Walter and Hardelephus in part satisfaction of certain debts in which the king was bound to them ; and subsequently at the duke's suit, beseeching the king to order the remaining 440 sacks of co. Kent to be delivered to him or the prior thereof, the king ordained by the advice of the council that 400 sacks of co. Kent should be delivered to the attorneys, taken to Flanders and sold there, and the money thereof delivered to the duke, and 9 marks for each of the remaining 40 sacks should be delivered to the same attorneys by the hands of the assessors, collectors and receivers of wool in that county; and the king ordered the receiver to deliver to the duke all the money of wool brought to those parts, except 40s. a sack of the wool of cos. Nottingham and Warwick assigned to Walter de Chiriton and Hardelephus de Barton, and now the king has learned from the plaint of the duke's attorneys that although much of the king's wool of cos. Nottingham, Warwick, Kent and Norfolk, assigned to the duke, has been taken to Flanders and sold there, and the money received by William, yet he has retained 3 mark a sack of the wool of cos. Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent and. Dorset for the use of the said merchants of Almain and has not hitherto cared to pay that money to the duke or his attorneys, whereupon they have besought the king to provide a remedy; and: the king wishes the said grant to remain in force, especially as he has caused the merchants of Almain to be satisfied in England for the said custom of 3 mark. : j By K. and C. .
