Order to deliver de Monte Hermeri, earl of Gloucester and Hertford, and to Joan, the king's daughter, the castle and honour of Tun[brigge and lands of the countess in cos. Kent, Surrey and Sussex, together the Isle of Portland, and all their appurtenances, which the king to be taken into his hands with the other lands of the countess by of a trespass committed by her, to be held in the same manner under the same conditions as the countess held them before they were into the king's hands, together with as much stock of oxen, plough- (agfrorum) and other beasts as were in them on the day when caused them to be taken into his hands, if there be as much now, saving to the king any excess, as the king has rendered the lands and isle to Ralph and Joan for the good service rendered to . by Ralph in Scotland. By p.s. [2591.] de Jaru of York acknowledges that he owes to Robert de Bardelby, 60s. ; to be levied, in default of payment, of his lands and chattels York.
