the sheriff of Northumberland. Order to receive from the constable Rhys (Resum) ab Maylgon, Canan ab Mereduth, and ab Res, Welshmen in that castle, and to cause them to be taken safe-conduct to the castle of Newcastle-on-Tyne, and to cause them kept there safely without irons, as the king has enjoined upon him of mouth, and to cause them to have their wages from Michaellast, to wit 3d. a day each and 2d. a day each to two grooms serving until further orders, and to cause Rhys, Canan and Maylgon to 20s. each and each of the grooms 6s. 8d. for their robes for the year.
