To the sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk. Although the king lately ordered to cause scutage to be levied of the knights fees that are held of the of heirs under age and in the king's wardship, to wit 40s. for fee (sewto) for the king's army of Scotland in the twenty-eighth year of reign, and 40s. for each fee for the army of Scotland in the thirty-first of his reign; he now, because he had previously ordered him to cause executors of the will of John de Warenna, late earl of Surrey, tenant chief, to have such scutage of the knights fees that were held of said earl, orders the sheriff to supersede the execution of the writ levy the scutage for the king's use by reason of the minority of grandson and heir of the said earl, from the knights fees that held of the heir's inheritance, and to restore anything that he may levied thence for this purpose, except the knights fees that Thomas holds of the heir's inheritance, from which the king wills that the shall be collected and levied for his use.
