To William de Bevercote, chancellor of Scotland. Whereas foreign alien merchants have granted that they will pay to the king, for liberties and immunities granted to them by him and for his remitted to them, divers payments and customs of their goods and to be brought into his realm and power or to be taken out it, which payments and customs he has caused to be collected and in the realm of England in accordance with the tenor of the that he sends to him under his half seal (sub pede siyilli), and now wills that these payments and customs shall be collected and levied his land of Scotland for his use, and that all the money thence arising be paid in full to John Ballard, Coluchius Bellard, and John Van, of the society of the Bellardi of Lucca, to make therewith for his great wardrobe, as is enjoined upon them on the king's the king orders the chancellor to cause certain merchants or whom he shall deem fit for this purpose to be appointed by letters under the king's seal appointed for the rule of that land, which is in the chancellor's keeping, to collect and receive the said payand customs in all the ports and towns and other places where he shall see fit in that land, in accordance with the tenor of the transcripts aforesaid ; provided that the money shall be paid to the said merchants as above.
