Order to cause 40s. delivered to Elias de Stubton, merchant or his attorney in part satisof 1007. due to him, as the king lately ordered the sheriff to cause the goods and merchandise of the men and merchants of Normandy and in the kingdom of France, except the merchants of Amiens, should be found in that county, to be arrested up to the sum of 100/. detained under arrest until satisfaction should be done to Elias for said 100/. and his reasonable damages, as the people and ministers of then king of France of the town of Leyre in Normandy, took a ship with divers goods and merchandise to the value of 460/. at Leyre, reasonable cause, and the king of France has been altogether to Elias in doing justice upon this, as fully appears by the process thereupon ; and the sheriff returned that by virtue of the said order had arrested the goods and merchandise of certain merchants of France value of 16/. 13s., wherefor the king ordered him to cause those to be delivered to Elias or his attorney in part satisfaction of the 1007. when the goods should be appraised, and to cause all the goods merchandise of the merchants of Normandy and elsewhere in France, the merchants of Amiens, which should be found within that to be arrested to the sum remaining of those 100/., and to be kept as aforesaid; and the sheriff returned that he had delivered the goods of the value of 16/. 13s. to Elias, after the appraisment according to the form of the king's order, and that he afterwards in that county 40s. in coined money which belonged to Peter de merchant of Normandy, and retains them under arrest.
