Order to cause John de Sutton, knight, son and heir of de Sutton-super-Trent, to have respite until the octaves of Hilary for 2,000/., and to release him without delay from any distraint made cause, as lately, at the prosecution of John asserting that he had a recognisance for 2,000/. by force and duress, in the chancery of the king, to Hugh le Despenser, the king associated Roger, bishop of and Lichfield, Thomas de Bello Campo, earl of Warwick, and de Berkeleye, baron, with Geoflrey le Serop and his fellows, justices to hold pleas before the king, to hear the plaint of John in the and to do justice to him according to the form of an agreement in the late parliament at Westminster by the common council of the for annulling such recognisances made to Hugh by force and duress ; now John has besought the king that whereas the said 2,000/. are from him by summons of the exchequer while the affair for annulthe recognisance is pending before the said bishop, earl, baron and the king will be pleased to order that exaction to be superseded the said affair is being discussed, and the king has given Jobn the respite that he may be able in the meantime to prosecute the affair of annulling of the recognisance.
