To the bailiffs of Hereford. Order to pay to the abbot of Dore 20/. from ferm of that town at the terms at which they were wont to pay their at the exchequer, which sum the king lately granted to the abbot his expenses in staying in the last parliament at Westminster the expedition of certain of the king's affairs. By Kk. & C. To John Darcy, lord of Werk in Tyndale, or to his bailiff of the liberty of Whereas lately, at the prosecution of Margaret, late the wife of late earl of Kent, suggesting that the king ordered the aforesaid to cause dower to be assigned to the said Edmund and to her of the of John Comyn of Badenagh, formerly her husband, tenant of the late within that liberty according to the extents, transcripts whereof king sent to him sub pede sigilli, in the presence of Richard Talebot, to the king had committed the custody of the lands that belonged to the John Comyn in that liberty, and that the keeper caused certain lands be thus assigned and delivered to Edmund and her, the said lands were afterwards resumed into the king's hands, and she has besought king, by petition before him and his council in parliament, to cause the to be restored to her the king ordered the said keeper to cause the lands to be restored to Margaret, and the keeper has certified the king he could not deliver to her the said lands because David de Strabolgi, of Athole, and the aforesaid Richard Talebot and Elizabeth his wife entered the lands in question as their inheritance : as it was agreed in parliament at Westminster that Margaret should have her dower of the Edmund's lands and should have all other Jands that she held in dower otherwise at his death and that were taken into the king's hands at his and as it appears to the king by evidences shewn in chancery and by of the writs enrolled in the rolls of chancery that the assignment the dower aforesaid was made during Edmund's life, and that the lands assigned to them in dower were taken into the king's hands by reason Edmund's death, the king orders the keeper to resume into the king's all the lands thus assigned to Edmund and Margaret in dower, and deliver them to Margaret with the issues received thence from the time of being taken into the king's hands. The king sends to him, enclosed the presents, for his greater information the transcript of the assignment the aforesaid dower lately sent by him into chancery.
