To the arrayers of men-at-arms and others for the custody of the land in co. Middlesex. Order to supersede the distraint made the prior of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England for men-at-arms and 12 archers for that custody, by reason of his lands in Middlesex, while he is with his men on the custody of the maritime in co. Southampton, unless other direction is made in imminent as the king has appointed the prior and John de Warenna, earl of Arundel and others to the custody of the maritime land co. Southampton, and ordered the prior to go to these parts with horses and arms and stay there for the custody thereof against and although he has set out thither with 60 men-at-arms and in no small number and is staying there at great expense, yet arrayers distrain him to find 6 men-at-arms and 12 archers for such whereupon he has besought the king to provide a remedy.
