Order to cause John de Hale and Alice his wife, third daughter and heir of Joan de Crokedayk, tenant in chief, to have seisin of their purparty of that inheritance, as the king lately took the fealties of John de Moriceby, who married Margaret, one of Joan's daughters and heirs and of Elena, another daughter and heir, who proved their ages before John Moryn, late escheator beyond Trent, and the king rendered them their purparties and gave Elena respite for her homage until Easter in the tenth year of the reign, and ordered that escheator to make a legal partition of the lands of which Joan was seised at her death, in her demesne as of fee, into three equal parts, in the presence of Hugh de Moriceby, who held the custody of Joan's lands until her heirs should come of age by the grant of John de Burgh, to whom the king committed the custody for rendering a certain thing yearly at the exchequer, and to cause John and Margaret and Elena to have seisin of their purparties, retaining in the king's hands the purparty of Alice uutil further orders, and now the king has taken the fealty of John de Hale and Alice, she having proved her age before John Moryn, and has reudered them her purparty.
