To the chamberlain of North Wales. Order to cause victuals and other necessaries for the castles of Caerriarvan, Beaumaris, Coneway, Cruketh and Hardelagh in North Wales, to be purveyed without delay, and to be placed in them according to the advice of their constables, or those who supply their place, by indenture, so that answer may be made to the king therefore, knowing that if he is negligent in this the king will cause him to be amoved and imprisoned, as the king previously ordered him to cause the castles to be provided with victuals and other necessaries, and he has not hitherto done this, and certain galleys have invaded the realm, and they propose to go to Wales and do all possible harm. The king has ordered Richard earl of Arundel, justice of North Wales, to survey those castles so that they shall be provided with victuals and men for their safe keeping, and to punish those in whom he shall find any default in making such munition, according to the power given him by the king.
