To the sheriff of Kent. Order to go to the manor of Braburn, in that county, and to deliver it together with the issues thereof to Katherine, late the wife of David de Strabolgy, earl of Athol, tenant in chief, and if any resist that livery by armed power, to take and imprison them, taking the posse comitatus for this if necessary, informing the king of the names of those so arrested, and to be in chancery on the octaves of Midsummer next to answer for his contempt, and to do and receive what the king's court shall determine; knowing that the king has amerced him at 100s., which he will cause to be levied of his land and chattels unless he diligently executes the present order, as the king previously ordered him to go to that manor and deliver it to Katherine to hold as dower [as at page 74 above], aud the king has learned that he refused to obey or execute that order. William Corbet and Emma his wife, late the wife of John de Odyngseles, put in their place William de Whatcote to defend the execution of a recognisance for 200 marks, made by John and Emma in the late king's chancery to William de Ayremynne, clerk.
