Memorandum of acknowledgment in chancery at Westminster by William Berland, 27 April. MEMBRANE lld. Sir Philip le Despenser the elder knight and Henry Beamys. Indenture witnessing that the said Henry shall make a feoffment in fee of the manor of Lymberegh and the appurtenances, except 12s. of rent issuing from lands sometime of Nicholas de Lymberegh clerk and from a messuage sometime of William de Swalowe, to Sir Philip, Sir Philip his son and James de Roos and to their heirs, that those feoffees shall within three days make a lease of the manor to him for life without impeachment of waste, that the said Henry shall make a lease of the said manor and rent to John de Otteby and Adam de Cotyngham for the term that Philip the father, John and Adam have by lease from him, to perform the covenants therein contained, that before livery of seisin to the feoffees Sir Philip the father shall make the said Henry an acquittance for 200/. wherein by statute merchant he is bound to the said Sir Philip the father, John and Adam, and shall pay 601., the money and acquittance being delivered to Geoffrey Nubold to be delivered after seisin to the said Henry, that Sir Philip the father and those who have an estate in the manor of Marketstayneton and power by law to charge the same shall grant the said Henry for life a rent of 100s. a year, and a gentleman s gown or 13s. 4d. at Martinmas, with defeasance thereof in case 5 marks a year and a gown be duly paid him at Marketstayneton, and that Sir Philip the father shall at his own cost sue licence of the king to make such alienations, these covenants being performed before the quinzaine of Trinity; and defeasance of a recognisance in 500 marks made by the said Henry to Sir Philip upon condition that all these covenants shall be performed, and likewise of a like recognisance to him made by Sir Philip the father.
