To the sheriff of Essex. Writ of swpersedeas, in favour of Robert Rauf esquire (scutifer) in regard to a distress for levy of any sums his lands or goods, and order to release any such distress made ; on 20 May last before Robert de Plesyngton knight chief baron of the the said Robert fitz Rauf, Henry Grene knight and Simon Burgh esquire (scutifer) made a joint and several recognisance the king in 200 marks, under condition for payment by Robert fitz at Michaelmas next of 10 marks of the 400 francs of gold which unlawfully and dishonourably received of the king's enemies of by colour of treaties with them made by him and certain lieges of the king by covin of their own authority without and command of the king or his lieutenant, 10 marks at following, and so from year to year until the said 400 franes fully paid. By bill of the treasurer.
