the sheriff of Kent. Order to cause proclamation to be made city and suburbs of Canterbury and elsewhere in his bailiwick all men of that city who will obtain the benefit of the king's grace pardon, except those hereinafter excepted, shall repair or send to court before Whitsuntide, if they think fit, to sue for charters, only the fee for the great seal; as at the special request of Anne the king in parliament took order to grant certain general to singular his subjects of whatsoever parts of the realm to sue for the same, except certain persons named in the king's and the men of Canterbury, Cantebrigge, Briggewatre, St. Beverle and Scardeburgh, and ordered the sheriff to make that all willing to take the benefit thereof, with those should come or send as aforesaid ; and now the king in parliament has granted such general pardons to the men of that exception notwithstanding.
