Memorandum of a mainprise made in chancery 11 December Richard II under a pain of 1,000/. by Brian de Stapelton knight Yorkshire, Nicholas Dagworth knight of Norffolk, Hugh Tirel of Wiltesir, John Chircheman of London and John Mareschall Norffolk, to have the body of Robert Howard knight, imprisoned the Tower of London, before the council in the quinzaine of St. next. And on 13 December before the council at Westminster said Robert and John Mareschall took upon them under a like that they should not eloign Margery de Nerford from the company Alice de Nevylle her grandmother or procure others so to do, nor do or procure her hurt, violence or grievance until the quinzaine aforesaid. And at that day by judgment of the council the said mainpernors and the said Robert departed quit of that mainprise for that they had the said Robert before the council; and John Bromwych knight of Gloucestershire, Robert Passelewe knight of Kent, Ralph de Poleye knight and John de Holkham of Norffolk on 4 February mainperned in chancery for the said Robert Howard under a pain of 1,000 marks, that he should not take or eloign the said Margery or do or procure her hurt etc. ; and so by assent of the council he withdrew from court by that mainprise.
