Writ of swpersedeas, by mainprise of Rulee draper, Thomas Bygode goldesmyth, John Kynge and John Synes of the city of London, in favour Tylby and Philip atte Naldrette at suit of William bishop for trespass. John de Armesthorp and John Philipot. Order at days and by them to be set to make inquisition concerning certain goods chattels newly taken by Thomas de Percy and other lieges of and Dovorre and brought to la Rye and other towns upon the coast in Kent and Sussex, the value and price thereof and other and to execute other things needful to their commission ; the king has appointed them to make inquisition as aforesaid, those goods into the king's hand in whose hands soever they to keep them in safe custody until the king shall do justice if assured that they are of any his friends, and if enemies to receive to the king's use the portion to him pertaining, and and deliver the residue to those who ought lawfully to have of it. The king has commanded the sheriffs of Kent and Sussex such days, of which notice shall be given them, to cause [jurors] ete. By C. because otherwise upon the Patent Roll for this year. Edmund earl of Cantebrigge constable of Dovorre castle and of the Cinque Ports. Like order to make inquisition within liberty of the said ports, to take into the king's hand any such therein found etc. (as above). By C. Richard Skargill to John Stacy clerk and William de Bentlay, the heirs and assigns of the said William. Quitclaim with warranty of all lands etc. in towns and places in the parish of Sutton, Chesewyk and Stronde co. Middlesex which he had by feoffment of Richard de Everdon chaplain and John Stevene. Witnesses: John Butterwyk, John Sampforde, John Gregory, John Hoberd, William Hoberd, Henry Mauncell. Dated Sutton, the eve of the Purification 1 Richard II.
