Order to remove the king's hand and meddle no further with a messuage and half a virgate of land in Preston on the Hulle which were of Anketin Knyghton, delivering up any issues thereof taken; as lately the . 61 John de Tyndale late escheator to certify in chancery the wherefore he took the premises into the king's hand, and the value and he certified that Nicholas Seymor the late king's escheator the same for that he found by inquisition, taken of his office on the eve of St. James 47 Edward III, that the said Anketin, a fugitive for the death of John Hancokes of Staffordshire, on the that felony held the premises, extended at 2s. a year; and the date was not mentioned in that certificate, nor that the was attainted or outlawed, nor what estate he had in the king ordered the now escheator to certify the same, inquisition taken has certified that the said Anketin withdrew for a felony which he committed on 23 December III by slaying the said John Hankokes, that he was never or outlawed for the same, that on that day he had no estate premises nor afterwards, for that on the eve of the Epiphany 40 III by charter he enfeoffed Geoffrey Clerk of Leycestre and thereof and of all other his lands in Norhamptonshire, who the same for life to Adam Widevile of Preston, and after the reversion to Thomas de Evesham citizen of London and heirs in fee, and that the said Adam attorned tenant to the said and after made a surrender to him, who held the premises until put out by the late escheator ; and the king reckons of taking the same insufficient.
